The Canton Eaglettes made it look easy last week, opening their playoff run with a dominant sweep of the Sunnyvale Lady Raiders in bi-district round action.

Canton set the tone early for what type of series it would be, dominating from start to finish in a 13-0 rout of Sunnyvale on the road April 27.

Canton got all the offense it would need in the first, scoring a pair of runs to take a 2-0 lead. Things would go from bad to worse for the Lady Raiders from there as the Eaglettes tallied three more runs in the second, and four runs in both the fourth and sixth innings to complete the runaway win.

Jaycee Bullard and Grace Thompson combined to allow just one hit while striking out five in six innings of work for the Eaglettes.

Nine different Canton players would finish with hits against Sunnyvale, including three different players posting multi-hit outings. Offensive leaders for Canton included Kara Pride going 2/2 with a double, 3 RBI and two runs scored, Chelsea Chitty going 2/4 with 2 RBI and Payton Bray going 2/4 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Additionally, Jacey Pride went 1/2 with 2 RBI and a run scored, Lana Stapleton went 1/1 with a run scored, Grace Thompson went 1/1 with an RBI, Maddie Wilson went 1/3 with a double and a run scored, Tori Robinson went 1/3 with two runs scored and Amrie Clower went 1/3 with a double and two runs scored.

Canton returned home April 28, utilizing the same formula in a series-clinching 15-0 win over the Lady Raiders.

Jaycee Bullard and Grace Thompson again split time on the mound, combining to allow four hits while striking out five over five innings.

Tori Robinson led the charge offensively going 3/3 with a triple, a home run, 4 RBI and three runs scored. Jacey Pride went 3/4 with an RBI and a run scored and Maddie Wilson went 2/3 with 2 RBI and two runs scored.

Other offensive leaders for the Eaglettes included Payton Bray going 1/3 with a run scored, Grace Thompson going 1/1 with a run scored, Kara Pride going 1/1 with an RBI and two runs scored, Chelsea Chitty going 1/2 with an RBI, Raeleigh Strickland going 1/3 with an RBI and a run scored and Katrina Morphis going 1/2 with 3 RBI and two runs scored.

Other playoff results involving District 14-4A playoff qualifiers included the Brownsboro Bearettes dismissing Terrell in two games, 1-0 and 8-0, the Mabank Lady Panthers topping Caddo Mills, 12-0 and 11- 1, and the Athens Lady Hornets falling to Farmersville, 12-3.
