1940-2023

William Burkett Neal, 82, of Canton, passed away Sept. 17, 2023, in Tyler. He was born Sept. 20, 1940, in Youngstown, Ohio to Clayton William and Dorothy Eurilda Burkett Neal.

Bill grew up in Ohio. He coached in Florida for five years before moving to Texas. Bill coached at Richland College for 48 years and then five years at Trinity Valley. In the 1980’s, Bill coached the US Olympic Wrestling Team. He was a member of the Edom United Methodist Church.

Bill is survived by his wife, Donna Latour Neal; children: Tom Neal, Jim Neal, Jennifer Neal, Scott Neal and Kevin Neal; stepson, Josh Latour; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Ern Neal. Bill is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Kit Corroto.
